Ball Screen Motion

Above is a video for an excellent offense that features side pick and roll action. While I hate any offense that has rules, please keep in mind the following if you decide to implement this offense:

1. If the point guard makes a strong side cut, the player receiving the pass must use the ball screen and drive the ball to middle of the floor.

2. The ball screener must roll HARD to the front of the rim if the point guard makes a strong side cut ... there is no space to pop to short corner because the point guard and his defender are occupying that space.

3. When a strong side cut is made by the point guard, when the ball is being dribbled to the elbow area, the weakside post must duck in to the lane to ensure that his defender guards him which will prevent his defender from helping out on the ball screener rolling to the rim.

4. If the point guard makes a weakside cut, creating a two-man game on the strong side of the floor, the ball screen does not have to be set to the middle of the floor, the strong side post can flip the screen and set it so the ball handler is driving to the baseline. This concept will keep the defense off balance.
