NCAA Shooting

First and foremost, I want to be very clear on what I do with Allie Quigley. I put Allie through a series of ballhandling and shooting drills so that her exceptional skill level remains sharp. I am in no way trying to take credit for her incredible career. Allie was a 2-time WNBA All-Star and 2-time WNBA Three Point shooting champion long before she met me. Rather than referring to myself as her trainer, I like to call myself her rebounder. Having said that, NCAA Shooting is a drill that I like to do with Allie after we do form shooting. The drill consists of four spots: wing, slot, slot, wing. The player has to make 16 shots from each of the four spots for a total of 64 made field goals. I use the NCAA tournament bracket as a metaphor so that our players know exactly what they need to do; the 4 spots equal the 4 regions and 16 makes represents each team in a region. The four field goal attempts are: 1) midrange catch & shoot, 2) shot fake right hand dribble pull-up jumper, 3) shot fake left hand dribble pull-up jumper, 4) three-point catch & shoot. This is a great drill to perform prior to getting into specific postion related shots and should be completed in 7-10 minutes depending on skill level.
